INDIANAPOLIS (9/9/05) -- Wireworld introduced their two-conductor
Stream 52 and four-conductor Luna 52 loudspeaker
cables to custom installers at the CEDIA Expo here today. Both
cables feature round, easy-to-pull jackets, and are compatible
with the company's proprietary Insta-Wire™connectors, the
world's fastest system for creating custom, audiophile-quality
speaker cables. The cables can also be stripped easily and used
with conventional connectors.
"The Stream and Luna cable lines are adaptations of our
Insta-Wire™ system specifically made with custom installers
in mind," said David Salz, Wireworld's president and chief
designer. "They let installers provide their customers with
a very-high-quality cable in a fraction of the time it takes to
terminate conventional twisted-pair speaker wire or zip cord.
Terminating with our Insta-Wire spade and banana plug terminators
is as simple as cut and squeeze – 'snip, snap.' It's so
easy you can do it blindfolded, and with nothing more than a pair
of scissors or a pocket knife."
The outer sheath of the Stream 52 and Luna 52
cables are round to facilitate pulling in-wall cable runs, but
the conductors are a unique flat design made of oxygen-free-copper
with a cross-sectional area equivalent to a conventional 16-gauge
round conductor. Each conductor is insulated in polyethylene to
reduce capacitance and dielectric absorption for cleaner high
frequencies, while maintaining fidelity. The proprietary conductor
design provides uniform series impedance for superior fidelity,
even over long runs. Developed through objective perceptual testing,
this design minimizes inductive losses to produce dramatic improvements
in clarity, dynamics and spatial effects.
The highly intuitive Insta-Wire terminations are premium-grade
connectors made from oxygen-free copper, clad in a thick layer
of highly conductive silver, and then gold plated to prevent oxidation.
They use a proprietary design that makes it easy to create very-high-quality
banana-plug or spade-lug terminations. Once the wire is inserted
into the openings, the connector is squeezed, driving silver-clad
and gold-plated oxygen-free copper blades through the insulation
to create a high-pressure crimp connection on each of the conductors.
The Luna 52 cable consists of two pairs of conductors,
and can be used to drive a pair of loudspeakers, or for bi-wiring
applications. For use with a single speaker channel, the positive
and negative conductor pairs can be terminated together to create
a low inductance loudspeaker cable with a 13-gauge effective diameter.
The Stream 52 and Luna 52 speaker cables
each carry Underwriter's UL-CL3 rating and Canada's CSA-FT4 rating
for in-wall use. They will be available in October at suggested
retail prices of $0.90 per foot, and $1.50 per foot, respectively.
The Wireworld Insta-Wire connectors are available in with either
banana plugs or spade-lug connections. They will also be available
in October at a suggested retail price of $3.95 each.
Wireworld, which was founded by Salz in 1992, offers a broad
spectrum of very high quality speaker cables, audio and video
interconnects, digital audio interconnects, power cords, digital
A/V cables, and plasma/LCD control cables. The company has an
excellent reputation among audio and home theater enthusiasts
for producing high quality cables based on the use of objective
perceptual testing, patented designs, premium materials, and exceptional
manufacturing quality.
