LAS VEGAS (1/5/06) – Wireworld's Insta-Wire™ system is one of two Wireworld products to receive the CES 2006 Innovations Design and Engineering Award at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The company's Insta-Wire system includes both banana plug and spade lug instant termination connectors as well as four specially designed speaker cables, including three designed for in-wall use. Each cable features a unique flat-conductor design that delivers improved performance whether used with the Insta-Wire connectors, with conventional terminations, or as bare-wire for in-wall speakers.

"Insta-Wire is the world's fastest system for creating custom, audiophile-quality speaker cables," said David Salz, Wireworld's president and chief designer. "It lets installers or consumers terminate very-high-quality cable in a fraction of the time it takes for conventional designs, and with nothing more than a pair of scissors. It is as simple as cut and squeeze - 'snip, snap.' This is no gimmick. The low-inductance parallel conductor design offers superior sonic performance to any conventional cable design, whether used with our instant terminations, or not."

The highly intuitive Insta-Wire terminations are premium-grade connectors made from oxygen-free copper, clad in a thick layer of highly conductive silver, and then gold plated to prevent oxidation. They use a proprietary design that makes it easy to create very-high-quality banana-plug or spade-lug terminations. Once the wire is inserted into the openings, the connector is snapped shut, driving silver-clad and gold-plated oxygen-free copper blades through the insulation to create a high-pressure crimp connection on each of the conductors.

The Wireworld Insta-Wire system includes both universal spade-lug and banana plugs connectors. They are currently available at a suggested retail price of $3.95 each. Step-up terminations with increased silver content and no gold plating are also available at a suggested retail price of $7.95 each.

The new cables have a unique flat conductor arrangement with a cross-sectional area equivalent to a conventional 16-gauge round conductor. The proprietary conductor design provides uniform series impedance for superior fidelity, even over long runs. Developed through objective perceptual testing, this design minimizes inductive losses to produce dramatic improvements in clarity, dynamics and spatial effects. All cables are shipped on spools with sequential length markings for simple and precise measurement, making them ideal for the installation professional.

The Horizon 52 ribbon cable employs a pair of flat Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) conductor runs in a side-by-side arrangement. It has a thickness of less than 1/16 inch (1.4 mm - the thickness of a dime) and a width of about 3/8 inch (10 mm), making it ideal for external cable runs, and under carpets. It is currently available at a suggested retail price of $0.75 per foot.

The Stream 16/2, Luna 16/4 and Orbit 16/4 cable lines are all designed as direct replacements for standard in-wall cabling. Each features a round outer sheath for easy pulling of in-wall runs, with the flat conductors stacked together and twisted inside. These cables carry Underwriter's UL-CL3 rating and Canada's CSA-FT4 rating for in-wall use.

The Stream 16/2 cable consists of a single pair of OFC conductors, and is currently available at a suggested retail price of $0.90 per foot.

The Luna 16/4 cable features two pairs of OFC conductors, and can be used to drive a pair of loudspeakers, or for bi-wiring applications. For use with a single speaker channel, the positive and negative conductor pairs can be terminated together to create a low inductance loudspeaker cable with a 13-gauge effective diameter. Luna 16/4 is currently available at a suggested retail price of $1.50 per foot.

The Orbit 16/4 cable employs the same four conductor design as the Luna 16/4, but employs silver-clad OFC conductors for improved performance. It will be available in February at a suggested retail price of $3.60 per foot.

Wireworld, which was founded by Salz in 1992, offers a broad spectrum of very high quality speaker cables, audio and video interconnects, digital audio interconnects, power cords, digital A/V cables, and plasma/LCD control cables. The company has an excellent reputation among audio and home theater enthusiasts for producing high quality cables based on the use of objective perceptual testing, patented designs, premium materials, and exceptional manufacturing quality.
