Transformative Engineering HDM-4x2 lets Users Share Four Sources
in Two Rooms with HDBaseT

NORWOOD, MA (10/7/15) – Transformative Engineering has introduced the HDM-4x2, a versatile four-source, two-display HDMI matrix switch with a local HDMI output and remote HDBaseT output, with both outputs being 4K capable. The Local output is Audio Return Channel (ARC) enabled, and the remote output uses HDBaseT technology that allows inexpensive Cat5/6e network cable and an included receiver module to deliver content to TVs up to 70m away.

The Transformative Engineering HDM-4x2 Matrix Switcher will allow four HDMI source devices such as cable, satellite, Apple TV, BluRay Player, etc., to be distributed to two different rooms at the same time. The HDM-4x2 provides custom installers and systems integrators with a simple, yet feature-rich product that allows input and display selection using the included remote control and it supports system interface via IR or RS-232.

A unique feature of TE's HDM-4x2 is that the output connections to the TVs are different.  The Local output is a standard HDMI connector that is Audio Return Channel (ARC) enabled. This allows audio to be streamed back from a smart TV to an ARC-enabled audio video receiver connected to HDMI Input #4. The HDM-4x2 can also de-embed an analog audio (L-R) signal to analog output jacks to be used for sound augmentation.

The remote TV output from the HDM-4x2 is connected via UTP (Cat5e/6) wiring and is an HDBase-T signal.  It is designed to run over a length of UTP (Cat 5e/6) wire up to 70 meters and connect to the supplied HDBase-T Receiver at the TV, where it is converted to HDMI and IR.  There is no ARC along this path.  The HDBase-T receiver at the TV side is powered over the UTP wire from the transmitter built into the HDM-4x2.  No Power Supply is needed at the TV side.

In summary, the HDM-4x2 is a tool for the Custom Installer to provide a small, yet powerful means of allowing the end user to select and operate up to four separate sources to play into two different venues and permits versatile control, audio support and wiring choices.

The Transformative Engineering HDM-4x2 will be available in October from TE reps and distributors, or directly from the company.  The HDM-4x2 has a suggested retail price of $749.
