NEW YORK (5/11/07) -- Outlaw Audio, the leading direct-to-consumer
internet electronics brand, today debuted the Model 7900, the
largest and most powerful multichannel power amplifier the company
has ever offered. It features seven fully balanced differential
amplification channels each delivering 300 watts into an 8-ohm
load with all channels driven, and 450 watts into 4 ohms (20 Hz
– 20kHz, 0.03% THD, all channels driven). Due to its enormous
power delivering capabilities, the unit is equipped with dual
power cords.
"This is an absolute behemoth of a power amplifier,"
comments Outlaw spokesman Scott Jackson. "With a massively
overbuilt power supply, fully balanced differential topology,
and current reserves that boggle the imagination, this will completely
redefine the way the home theater enthusiast think of the word
‘powerful.’ The 110 pound Model 7900 is capable of
turning a good soundtrack into a life-changing event – just
make sure you have help putting it into your rack.”
The high-current power supply used in the Model 7900 is driven
by dual custom-designed toroidal transformers with multiple windings
for each channel, delivering extremely clean power with headroom
to spare for even the largest dynamic transients. Each output
module features 24 discrete output devices, and a total of 36,000
microfarads of filter capacitance. The amplifier is capable of
delivering such a large amount of high current output that power
from two separate fifteen-amp circuits is strongly recommended
to allow it to deliver its full potential.
The differential design of the Model 7900 employs common-mode
rejection technology to reduce crosstalk to greater than -100
dB. When the Model 7900's balanced XLR inputs are paired with
a balanced preamplifier/processor such as the Outlaw Audio Model
990, the amplifier also benefits from a 6 dB improvement in gain
thanks to the complementary design. Each channel of the amplifier
includes a massive heat sink, eliminating the need for noisy cooling
fans even when operating at rated power.
Low voltage trigger inputs are provided for seamless operation
with compatible products, such as Outlaw's Model 970 and 990 preamp/processors
and Model 1070 receiver. An advanced Opto-coupled protection circuit
protects the amplifiers from damage without the use of fuses.
The Outlaw Model 7900 power amplifier will be available in June
exclusively through the Outlaws' website at www.outlawaudio.com.
The unit will carry a $3,499 introductory price, with special
combo pricing available when the amplifiers are purchased in a
combination package with other Outlaw components.
Privately owned Outlaw Audio designs their own line of high-performance,
high-value consumer electronics products and markets them exclusively
via the Internet from their www.outlawaudio.com website. The recipient
of numerous major awards and "Recommended Component"
ratings from major publications, Outlaw's products are widely
regarded by audiophiles around the world.
