LOS ANGELES (June 1, 2006) -- Onkyo today introduced the DX-7555, a dedicated two-channel CD player designed to deliver superior audio performance to audiophiles and stereo music enthusiasts. The player is compatible with CD, CD-R/RW, and MP3-encoded discs, and features an attractive, heavy-duty brushed aluminum chassis for stability and superior isolation.

The Onkyo DX-7555 features a super-precision clock circuit which has a tolerance of just +/- 1.5 ppm (typical tolerance values are about 50 ppm,) for remarkably low jitter and high-fidelity performance. Additionally, users can manually adjust the clock frequency for a degree of sonic imaging control that is unheard of at this price. The critical step of digital-to-analog conversion is handled by the highly regarded Wolfson Microelectronics WMA8740 DAC (Digital to Analog Converter). This DAC circuit features user-selectable profiles for either "sharp" (flat up to 20 kHz) or "slow" (gradual) high frequency rolloff, to suit differing source material and user preferences. Lastly, Onkyo's Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC) provides a smoother, more detailed output waveform than conventional DAC circuitry.

For use with external DAC modules, the DX-7555 features Onkyo's exclusive Direct Digital Path, which employs a high-purity shielded cable to convey the digital bitstream from the disc to the rear panel coaxial digital output. This ensures that the bitstream is significantly less susceptible to interference from other circuitry than the conventional PCB copper traces used in other players.

The Onkyo DX-7555 features both coaxial and optical digital outputs, as well as gold plated RCA analog outputs. The player also features RI (Remote Interactive) input and output jacks for integration with other Onkyo RI-enabled devices, simplifying control of the entire music system. Additional features include a 25-step memory playback with four repeat modes, an easy-to-use remote control, a four-mode display dimmer, and a front panel headphone jack with volume control.

The Onkyo DX-7555 CD player will ship in August and carry a suggested retail of $599.99 and is available in a silver brushed aluminum finish.
