Onkyo Debuts 1080p Upscaling DVD-Audio & SACD Player

UPPER SADDLE RIVER, NJ (12/3/08) -- Onkyo has introduced its first 1080p upscaling SACD and DVD-Audio/Video player. The Onkyo DV-SP506 multiformat DVD player is designed to deliver superior video and sound performance, including multichannel PCM and Direct Stream Digital (DSD) over HDMI. 

The Onkyo DV-SP506 has an HDMI single-cable A/V output connection for easy integration with the latest A/V receivers, processors and high-definition video displays, plus 5.1 multi-channel and dual stereo analog audio, coaxial & optical digital audio, composite video, and S-Video outputs. All outputs are simultaneously active, allowing the same source to be viewed on multiple displays.

The Onkyo DV-SP506 plays DVD-Video, CD, Video CD, SACD, DVD-Audio, MP3, WMA , and JPG files, as well as CD-R/RW & DVD±R/RW discs. The progressive scan video circuitry includes 2:3 pulldown, premium upscaling to 1080p, 1080i or 720p for ultimate performance with HD video displays.

The DV-SP506 features IR control inputs plus a bi-directional RS-232 interface that allows integrated system operation control from AMX, Crestron and other control systems. Lastly, Onkyo's RI (Remote Interactive) interface allows easy integration and control when used with an Onkyo receiver, and includes Remote Interactive over HDMI (RIHD) protocols for simple integration with a wide range of electronics equipment from other manufacturers.
           
For audio reproduction, the DV-SP506 employs three Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24-bit linear PCM audio DACs coupled with the company’s exclusive Vector Linear Shaping Circuit (VLSC) for smoother and more linear analog output.

The Onkyo DV-SP506 is now available in black and silver finishes at a suggested retail price of $329.
