UPPER SADDLE RIVER, NJ (9/27/06) – Onkyo has introduced the DS-A2 Remote Interactive (RI™) Dock for iPod™, improving upon its popular DS-A1 model with iPod video compatibility, on-screen display, and a dedicated IR remote control for greater flexibility and control. The DS-A2 lets users integrate their iPod audio and video with nearly any A/V system, and offers additional functionality such as automatic system on/off and direct source change when integrated with other Onkyo RI-enabled equipment, including any of the company's popular A/V receivers.

The DS-A2 is compatible with all current iPod models, including third through fifth generation iPod, iPod Mini™, and the iPod Nano™. The attractive black cradle recharges the player's internal battery while playing music and video files over home A/V equipment via rear panel composite video and stereo audio outputs. The on-screen display function can be activated to display track lists and song information such as artist, album, title, playback time, shuffle mode, and more.

The DS-A2 includes a dedicated handheld remote to control iPod function regardless of the A/V or stereo system equipment it is connected to. In addition to basic playback and selection control, the remote includes one-touch control for random shuffle playback of songs or albums, a resume function that returns to the track played when the iPod is stopped or removed from the dock, and repeat functions for individual tracks or whole albums.

When used with an Onkyo RI (Remote Interactive) compatible receiver or executive system, the DS-A2 also includes the ability to operate key iPod control functions using the receiver's remote control. RI system interaction adds additional functionality, including powering the DS-A2 and iPod on or off with the rest of the system, and Auto Power on and Auto Selector to power up the receiver and/or select the DS-A2 input when iPod playback is initiated. Because it employs the company's long-running RI system, this function of the DS-A2 dock is compatible with most of the Onkyo components manufactured in the past decade.

The Onkyo DS-A2 Remote Interactive dock for iPod features an attractive black finish, and includes all the connection and cabling necessary for operation. It is currently available at a suggested retail price of $109.
