| For immediate release: Canton Debuts Powerful CD 3200 Active Loudspeaker
"If it were a performance automobile, the CD 3200 would be what is referred to as a 'sleeper'," comments Frank Göbl, Canton's head of engineering. "The elegant, well-heeled exterior really belies the powerhouse performance capabilities of this speaker. The IcePower amplification module is widely recognized as the gold standard for digital audiophile amplification, and we have re-tooled the drivers and crossover network of our already outstanding CD 300 line to really dial in the performance. This is easily the finest aluminum-body loudspeaker we have ever introduced, and will outperform anything in or near its class."
The Canton CD 3200 employs enhanced versions of the
4-inch aluminum cone woofer used throughout the CD 300 series. For
the active loudspeaker, this driver has been re-engineered with an
enhanced motor structure and dramatically increased excursion capabilities
for an improvement in power handling and deep bass response. The inclusion
of Canton's sinusoidal rubber surround and newly engineered spider
assembly allow for the substantial excursion increase, and also contribute
to the improved lateral displacement control. The Canton CD 3200 is currently available at a suggested retail price of $1600 each. Canton is the largest manufacturer and best-selling brand of loudspeakers in Germany. It was founded in 1973 by a group of audio enthusiasts who defined their mission "to always develop the finest loudspeakers in their class."
