Atlantic Technology Delivers New Family of Speakers for Home Theater and Music
NORWOOD, MA (3/15/16) -- Atlantic Technology, a leader in high-performance loudspeaker systems for the past quarter century, has introduced a three-channel front-stage loudspeaker and sonically matched single-channel speaker that deliver outstanding sound for home theater and music. The two systems use the same tweeters, woofers, and acoustic topologies to deliver exceptional sound quality, power, and carefully matched timbre.
The Atlantic Technology FS3 Front Stage Loudspeaker combines three side-by-side front-channel speakers in a 42-inch long black enclosure. These elements create a strong, coherent soundstage with an on-wall or console-mounted flat screen TV. [Click to download separate FS3 press release.]
The Atlantic Technology LCR3 is a single-channel version using the same design 'DNA' for use as stereo speakers or theater front or surround channels. The LCR3 is designed for vertical or horizontal wall mounting, with speaker stands, or shelf placement, and it is available in optional black or white gloss finishes. "Both the LCR3 and FS3 represent our best thinking for the newest AV technologies," said Peter Tribeman, Atlantic Technology's president and founder. "Elegant in design and compact in size, these new speakers represent an ideal match to this year's newest generation of moderately priced AV receivers. Among other things we paid special attention to precision timbre matching so that our '3 series' excels in reproducing a smooth coherent soundfield with all channels."
Each channel of Atlantic Technology FS3 and LCR3 uses two long-throw 3½-inch CPP (Composite Polypropylene/Paper) woofers and a single ¾-inch silk-dome tweeter. The woofers' CPP cones combine the fast transient response of polypropylene with the inherent self-damping traits of cellulose. This provides exceptional linear response while eliminating any tendency toward harshness. In the audible range above the 3,500 Hz crossover circuit, the small but powerful ¾-inch tweeter exhibits smooth response and broad upper-octave dispersion compared to more typical 1-inch tweeters.
In addition to the performance derived from the drivers and crossover, the front panel and grille assembly provide a flat speaker front with no bumps or barriers to generate diffraction adjacent to the woofers and tweeter. The tweeter is also mounted slightly off the axis of the woofers to reduce overlap interference. All these elements combine to give the speakers excellent response and dispersion characteristics with a broad listening area, and no hot spots or dead zones.
The Atlantic Technology FS3 and LCR3 use high-quality push-style binding posts that can accept heavy gauge wire. Wall mounting is provided using either rear-panel keyhole mounting brackets or standard ¼-inch threaded mounting plates that work with a variety of TV and speaker mounting systems. There is also an optional shelf kit for mounting the FS3 speaker on top of the TV screen.
The Atlantic Technology FS3 is now available in gloss black finish with a suggested retail price of $650. The LCR3 is available in gloss black or gloss white finish with a suggested retail price of $275 each.
